Understanding the Residents Who are most Likely to Recommend Your Community

Every time residents or prospects leave a review on ApartmentRatings, they are asked about their relationship to the community. The three options they can choose from are Current Resident, Former Resident, and Prospective Resident. This allows other prospects understand the context of the reviews on ApartmentRatings.

There is a fourth type of resident, Verified Residents. These residents submit reviews through the Verified Resident Program (VRP). Whenever a resident submits a VRP review, they are automatically given Verified Resident type.

The Residents Tab is located near the very top of the Review Trends report page, just to the right of the Ratings tab. Use this tab to see which kinds of residents are getting the most from your communities, and which residents are most likely to recommend those communities to others.

To get an understanding of how residents are reviewing and rating your community, all reviews are broken out by the resident type. This information can be found in the "Residents" tab within the Review Trends report.

 Performance Overview Table

The Performance Overview Table at the top of this tab shows you which kinds of residents (Former, Current, Prospective, or Verified) are most likely to recommend your ApartmentRatings communities based on all the reviews they received within a preselected window of time. This information can be found in the bold text just above the main graph, and to the right of the graph underneath the words “Resident Group Most Likely to Recommend.” 

The information to the right of the Performance Overview graph also tells you which residents are Least Likely to Recommend your communities, as well as what your average Recommend Score is among all kinds of residents interacting with your ApartmentRatings pages. 

The average monthly Recommend Scores for each type of resident are represented on this table’s graph in the form of different-colored lines, any of which can be removed by clicking the words next to their corresponding-colored circle on the bottom of the table. 

Resident Type Breakdown Table

Below the Performance Overview Table, you’ll find the Resident Type Breakdown Table. From left to right, this table displays all the Dates by month that make up your preselected window of time (or all your ApartmentRatings Communities, if you click the “By Community” tab at the top of the table), and four different-colored sections, each displaying the average Overall Rating and Recommend Score by month or community among Former Residents, Current Residents, Prospective Residents, and Verified Residents. Note that the colors featured in this table also correspond to those featured in the Performance Overview Table above. 

You can also use the arrows and “Items Per Page” dropdown box at the bottom of this table to go to a new page and expand or shrink your view, or toggle the small arrows next to any of the bolded terms to view any column in ascending or descending alphabetical/numeric order.
